How to finish 2020 strong & set yourself up for a successful 2021

You might not have heard a starting gun, but make no mistake about it…

The race has begun. You’re in an all-out sprint to end the year.

That’s how I’d encourage you to look at the time remaining in 2020.

Whether you’re still making up for lost time or you’re striving to establish new personal bests, now is not the time to take your foot off the pedal.

It’s time to go hard. Let me share some tips to keep you motivated…

What will you focus on and commit to doing?

A new quarter is always a good opportunity to reset your goals and establish some new commitments and outcomes.

Maybe it’s one discipline or action you need to master every day from now until 2021…

Maybe it’s showing up and doing the things you already know you should be doing consistently to reach your 2020 goal

Whatever the case, it’s time to make some commitments and promises to yourself.

This quarter is all about priority management and what are the properties that are going to have the greatest impact on your business?

Here are a few targets that you should have absolute clarity about

  • What new “Big Ideas” are you implementing into your business to make it better?
  • How many listing appointments a week will you book?
  • How many quality prospecting conversations are you having a day?
  • How many new prospects/leads are you adding to your database?
  • How many buyer appointments are you doing each week?

Focus your energy on the actions you put in and the results will follow.

Make your promises public

Once you’ve answered these questions, do not put them away in a drawer.

Do the opposite

Make it public information.

Print them out and stick them on your wall for your team to see. Tell your family or friends.

Track your numbers and measure your progress every day.

The more emphasis you put on the numbers, the more you’ll follow through on the actions to achieve them.

Setting the destination: The North Star Goal

Now you know what you want, you need a way to measure it. That’s where North Star Goal comes in. The North Star Goal is the one big goal that tells you quickly are you on or off track. It's a high-level, aspirational goal that motivates, inspires, and keeps you focused and on track.

Think of the north star goal the way sailors view the North Star: A way to stay on course, no matter where you are. And if you don’t know where to go or what to do, all it takes is a quick glance to get back on track.

Remember, how you finish 2020 will also determine how you start 2021.

Come January 1, will you be starting from a standstill, or will you be flying into the new year full of momentum?

The harder you run in this sprint to the finish line, the better position you’re going to be in once 2021 arrives.

Which begs a few more questions you need to answer now:

Keep going, you’ve got this.

In closing, let me remind you how far you’ve come so far in 2020. Everything that’s been thrown at you, and you’re still moving forwards.

YOU can do anything you want. You are in control.

YOU can achieve as much success as you want to.

YOU can and will pick yourself up when life knocks you down.

Look….If you’re struggling, I’ve been there….and I can tell you first hand that it’ll get better if you keep trying.

I believe in you. Go for it.

Make 2021 you’re best year ever.
